Swinal Flu!

After returning from Mexico in May and not contracting swine flu...I thought I was in the clear...

Sunday 2 a.m.

My sister Joylynn calls. My niece had been sick that day and her condition had worsened overnight. Having no car, she called me hoping that I would answer my phone. I ended up taking them to the ER and finding out that they BOTH had swine flu. I had been exposed!!! Dang it. I thought I would be cool this winter and not worry about getting sick. But today as I sit here and type, I wonder as I feel like crap...did I contract the swine flu or do I just feel like crap today because I can.

Good thing about swine flu...it's not as bad as the news portrays. The ER doctor told us that. Oh well, at least once I get it and get over it, I won't get it again hopefully.

Don't visit...just get it by going to the grocery store.

Wow!

A lot has happened since March...first things first...weddings.

I got married to Kyle Anderson on May 15, 2009 in the Draper Temple. Wow, what an awesome experience. Here are some of the pictures we have:

Our photographer was amazing! I absolutely loved working with him. Then, we went on our honeymoon to Cabo (not a cruise however). Yes, everyone asked if I was scared of getting the swine flu and well honestly, yes...I was. But we went anyway. I think it took us longer to get into the Mexico than it did to get into the United States. Anywho, we stayed at this AWESOME resort on the beach and wow, Mexico is a different place. People constantly asking me if I want a bracelet, "Free for you. He pays." Oh man. But I would go back in a heart beat. I loved it there. What else? I can't remember.

June: Nothing new.

July: July 4th, Kyle's cabin with his family, a rodeo

August: New job! I start August 10th. Yippee! I can't wait.

New Title!!

As you may have noticed, I haven't updated in a long, long time. Don't you worry though...you are going to get the update of a life time...but not tonight. I don't have time and I am pooped. But I will say...wedding, birthday, Cabo, etc. etc. etc.

K-bye.

PARKING LOT ADVENTURES!

Okay, so I am real sorry for the long time without a post, but finally, I am posting something. Life has definitely changed since I last wrote. I can't believe that I will be graduating this semester of school, and another big change is coming but that news will have to wait...

But this Christmas break, it has just been Amy and I here in our apartment complex and as much as I love her, we have been so bored. Last night I lay on the couch, as she sit in the chair across the room, literally dying of boredom. It was only 9 p.m. and we were determined to stay up until 12 a.m. to go get Baja Blast from Taco Bell (then Sunday would be over). But three hours seemed like an eternity long, so we had to think of something. Then the idea struck me...sledding. But neither Amy or I had a sled, so what did we do, improvised; a car, orange sheet and a cookie sheet. We tied a knot in the end of the sheet and shut it in the truck to create the 'rope' and then we began the craziness. First it started with a cookie sheet, which would've worked better had the parking lot been more ice than slush.

In this next picture, I had ice melting down my butt crack...it was frigid.

And then, a laundry basket was instituted and wow, it worked amazing. Around and around we went in circles, eventually going about 10 mph in a circle. I have never had so much fun in a laundry basket. Little did I remember (but once was told), that plastic gets brittle in the cold and sadly, our fun came to an end when the bottom of the basket broke out. Our boredom had been cured for awhile, but we have determined that, that activity is going to stay. Next time a snow storm comes, we will be ready with dollar store laundry baskets and sheets...we plan on making a train.
My wet butt, broken laundry basket and plastic bag.

MU-MU!

Do you ever fell like, the only person that reads your blog is you. And yes, you read and reread posts. That's what I am feeling like as of late. So here is another one, for I suppose my reading and rereading enjoyment.

Okay first of all, we are not wearing these mu-mu's because we are at a Hispanic restaurant...although, they do carry that look. We wore them because it was Belinda's birthday and it was according to me, the only way into this party. Of course we gave her the only one that was colorful so she could stand out...it WAS her birthday dinner. Anyway, after a whole night of mu-mu's, we got hilarious looks, comments and even a pull-over compliment from some dude. Also, I used it in the theater as a blanket, it was cold and the mu-mu is 100% polyester (aka the heat stays in...mostly).

B R O C C O L I !

Okay, so I have decided that going to Chili's to eat broccoli is the best idea ever! Not only is it the best tasting, it is also broccoli, so healthy, green and it's very cheap.

Anyway, here is another picture from Lagoon.

NEW PAINT JOB...

Yep, after moving into my apartment, I decided that I was going to paint one wall. This is probably the most rebellious I will do in my life. I didn't ask for permission, but I will paint it back after all is said and done. So I did...pink. I love it and although I am still waiting for a sticker called Anise to come, so I am going to post these pictures. I am really excited for it to be finished, but when I ordered the sticker, it had a 10-14 days production time and then shipping...that was Sept. 1. Only probably two more weeks before it comes. Here it is...side note: the sticker will probably go on the white wall on canvas boards...we will see and I will post more pictures when I finish.

I made that chandelier that is hanging in the top corner of the picture. I am so excited.

Oh yeah, found this great rhinestone candle stick, still haven't decided what to do with it, but it now sits on that table...oh yeah, found that table at Kohl's for $12.00. Great deal!

Two Blocks Uphill...

After my first week of school, I can breath a sigh of relief...oh wait...I can't breath because I just walked up a steep incline to school. Ugh... Okay, so after the first day of 7:30 classes and walking up the hill once, I woosed out and drove my car to the stadium and rode the shuttle to the top again. At the end of the semester, I am going to be able to run that hill...I believe.
A week ago though, I went to Lagoon for the first time in a decade, yes, I say that because it sounds cool and a lot longer than it really is. Anyway, I went with my best friends from work and we had a blast. First I had to take some motion sickness medicine to avoid an unruly puke. But I rode the Colossus loop-to-loop roller coaster for the first time and loved it. We had such a fun time. Here are the pictures, or at least some of them for proof.

this is us trying not to get wet on Rattlesnake Rapids...two ponchoes+four people=wet butt.

Me, Kate and Sarah riding the ski-life ride...whoopee!

Birthday Boy...

Okay, so today was my little brother's birthday, but I can't really say, little brother considering he is at least a half a foot taller than I...so younger. Anyway, the original plan for his birthday party was to commence at Golden Corral (yipes), which I think is my dad's favorite restaurant? Anyway, my younger brother calls him and says, ''Dad, we are not eating at Golden Corral for my 21st birthday." haha. So we ate at the Olive Garden instead...haaa. Our dinner conversation consisted of a great story that my dad told...I think in his old age, he is getting blonder and not grayer...and considering his age, he looks pretty darn good (please bless that those great genetics were passed down).

But my dad is into the remote control airplanes and has been since I can remember, which is a long time because I have a great memory. Now that he is retired, he comes over the mountain to fly with the 'cronies' aka. other flying buddies. Understand also now that my dad's hearing is also...well, not as sharp as it used to be, so he sets his phone on vibrate when the airplanes are running because he can't hear it. The story goes like this... The other day, he came over to fly his airplane with his buddy Dave. While doing this, he had put his phone in his pocket and forgot about it. During the flight of the airplanes, Dave yells to my dad, "Hey, is there a bee flying around you?" My dad replies with a no, he can't see or hear anything and continues to fly. Again, Dave brings up that he swears there is a bee flying around him and this time my dad hears it, not only hears it but believes with all his might that it is in his pocket. At this point, my dad has his pocket pried open with his fingers trying to get the dang bugger out, without being stung on the leg. He tells Dave finally to get his leather gloves because this bugger isn't coming out and he is afraid of the worst. Dave runs to the truck to get the gloves and returns only to find a cell phone and set of keys in my dad's hand. Yes, don't worry, the 'bee' was a cell phone and key set.

This story is just some of the great things that my dad does. He is very entertaining...we also love him a lot. Anyway, here are some photos of the party!

It's Here! And a Family Reunion...

Okay, so for at least two months, I have been saying that Macey's Floral Dept. was going to have a blog so show all of our weddings to the public and now it's finally up and going. Check it out. I have to update it and put past weddings and things on, but at least it's now going right?

Next item of business...family reunions. For as long as I can remember, my family and I have been attending the Anderson Family Reunion (my dad's mom's family). And every year we get KFC (the only time I will ever eat it) and feast on the wonderfulness of the chicken. Also, I never eat gravy on anything except potatoes from KFC. It's interesting that we probably never converse with the 'Anderson' side of the family (except the parents) and so we sit divided with chicken every year. Hoping that someday, someone will break the ice and be brave enough to talk. But the old people keep on getting old and forgetting who we are and the young just keeping disappearing. But my sister came with her baby, so I got to play with her for awhile.

NOT SO SOON TO COME...

Crazy life, is what I have to blame for the tardiness of my new blog. It turns out that I will not be creating my own new blog for me, but probably for the floral shop that I am currently working for. We are busy enough for that, besides the fact that I usually can only write once a month...this whole up keep of a blog is sort of like writing in my journal, I am always really good at first.

Update of the life...I moved back to Utah to continue working at a local floral shop. I love it. We are so busy right now, it's probably a good thing that they have an extra pair of hands to use. So, we will hopefully be starting a new blog soon on that adventure. That was off the subject, but since that is usually all I can think of, I will now post some pictorials. the end.
P.S. I have decided to learn Spanish, so I downloaded Podcasts to listen to that teach you Spanish. Yes, I will learn something.

Also, this is a bouquet of poppies and peonies. I love it!

Soon to Come....

I am going to be starting a new blog...about my business adventures and creations. So, look for that. It still may be awhile, I have to think of a name. So any ideas about great floral wedding business names, let me know!

Car Tales...

Yikes! I thought that having a new engine in the car would fix the car problems, but regardless of how much money is spent on the car, I still have problems. Yesterday, after spending an entire day with one of my best friends (her wedding), I had a flat tire in the end. I had noticed, after picking up the wedding flowers, that my car was pulling to the right...bad and that the road was slanted so that it shouldn't be going to the right, but in fact to the left. I brushed it off thinking that maybe after they had put my tires on when fixing the engine, they may have knocked out of alignment. Well, when it came time to leave the reception, I indeed had a flatter than flat tire. Don't worry, two guys from high school and my dad were all there to help. (Although, I do know how to change a flat tire.) But it turns out that I have to purchase a new set of tires. Still enough is enough. I am done dealing with my stupid foreign piece of crap car.
I am now taking donations to help keep it alive. or me...
I will be posting some pictorials of the change and the great people that helped me as soon as I upload them off my camera.

Stanley Adventure Begins...

Whoo. Well, I made it through the first week of work at Stanley without too much pain. I only blew up my car engine, touched crusty poop, and ate a whole barrel (with the help of my two roommates) of cheesy poofs. In that barrel, there is around 1,120 poofs. Yes, it was wonderful, but probably very unhealthy. I probably shortened my life by 29.8 years. haha. Liven' it up, I suppose.
As for the car, don't ever get your oil changed at Jiffy Lube. Bad, bad idea. The guy was more interested in flirting with me rather than actually making sure that my car was okay to use.
And the crusty poop was a training exercise in which I was demonstrating how to properly clean a toilet for the new employees. My hand slipped off the towel, and I almost had a heart attack. Well, stay tuned more to come.

It's Raining Frogs...

I have had this post in the draft section of my blog for over two months now...finally, I will post it.
Here it is...the nitty-gritty details of family vacations.
In the beginning, we planned this vacation for this time of year for two reasons. One, I am leaving for the summer and two, pre-tornado season.

My dad said, "Oh don't worry Sara, it's pre-tornado season, we won't have to worry about that." It turns out, this past week was one of the worst weeks this year in tornadoes. We arrived in Winona, Minnesota, a day late (because of the stupid snow storm that closed the roads and a flat tire) and slightly tired. For the next couple of days, we would be refreshing our memory banks about my mom's history and the five or so years my dad lived there. The first day was great. The second day, there was a tornado warning directly for Winona and I was stuck in my hotel room. As a young child, I was forever scarred from a close tornado in this very city. So much for promising good weather...hah.

After that scare, we went to dinner. It was still raining buckets but, that didn't stop us. As we were driving home, there was white moving spots on the road. I was informed that they were frogs, the roads were covered and there was no way around hitting them. Dad told us not to think about it, but how could you not.

Our next adventure was to visit Aunt Judy. The part of the trip I looked forward to the most. I haven't seen her since she was in Utah for my mom's funeral. She is a 'hoot!' All we did was laugh the entire time.

These moments were the highlights of the trip. But here are some small details on other things.

-Mount Rushmore - Ugly Mountain Goat
-Belle Fourche - 'bell fu'-sh'
-Aladdin...Wyoming - not where Aladdin the character is from...big disappointment.
-Sock Puppets - 22 hours one way.
-The Corn Palace
-Home Again!

I love family vacations, but this one was really interesting.

Latest Flower Beautifulness...

Presenting....
Okay, so here are a few of my most recent creations. I really love the orange bouquet. My friend asked me to design her wedding flowers, so here is the first of those wedding flowers; the Bridals Bouquet. Her colors are Orange, a Sage Green and Brown. Beautiful colors once they are together!

I used, Orange Gerber Daisies, Orange Roses, Fern Curl, Variegated Pit. and Variegated Lily Grass.
The handle was wrapped in Chocolate Satin Ribbon but I added a chocolate brown accent and forgot to take a picture...dang. Oh well, hopefully she will be willing to give me a better picture.

This weekend, I also designed a centerpiece for a guest who's daughter is leaving for a mission to Italy. Hence the color scheme; red, green and white (I think those are the national colors?) Anyways, I loved this centerpiece, it turned out quite nicely. It contains, Green Hydrangea, Red Ranuculus, Various Greenery and Curly Willow.
A couple of weekends ago, it was Hawaiian days at Maceys, so this is my contribution to the decor of that celebration.Birds of Paradise, Orchids, Mini Carnations, Fern Curl, Gerber Daisies and Bamboo.
I am really looking forward to the next few wedding that we are doing. Unfortunately, I am leaving for the summer (busiest wedding season, also, my favorite!) to work elsewhere to help me with school. I will be back for a couple of weddings, I promised friends, but that is all. I look forward to the fall with many floral updates, but will update on the happenings with my new job. (I am getting a new camera, no more phone picture...ha ha)
This is Sara, over and out!

Whirl-Wind Semester!!

Whoa! Okay. So, I figured this semester had been too easy, and when I say too easy, I mean, homework spread evenly throughout. But now that the end of the semester is now two weeks away, my teacher have piled on the projects, papers and tests. AH! I feel like all I can do now is think about what to do on the next project and not to procrastinate (which I have a hard time with sometimes, okay pretty much all the time). But I am proud to say that I (with the help of a friend) created a logo, business card and letterhead. I feel so emancipated. haha. Anyway, I will post some pictures of my projects from my interior design class on here soon. Okay. Over and out.

Week of Randomness.

I have decided that I will write this blog because it is now 12:26 in the morning and my dumb roommates are awake and being obnoxiously loud in the kitchen. (Sorry if this sounds harsh). Honestly, sick of it.
Okay...new subject. Associated Floral Show in Salt Lake!
So starting on Tuesday evening, a co-worker of mine and myself drove to south Salt Lake to attend a floral show. Here are the crazy events of what took place.

  • started out with energy drinks on the way down because of my roommates, yes, they were up until 5 am that night

  • individual rooms with a very large bed, all to myself and free of cost to me

  • a not-so-free continental breakfast ($10 bowl of cereal)

  • being a 5-second winner (ask for details if you would like them)

  • hot Canadians and Colombians

  • Denny's date @ 12 am = weirdo hangout

  • snoring from next door neighbor (continually got louder and finally I could tell that the mouth opened by the volume of the snore, eventually I turned on the t.v. to drown out the noise)

  • nitrogen balls

  • no neck or no chin man, couldn't decide which

  • guys that wear pointy shoes

  • bikes that make everyone look special because of a flag

  • peanut legend

As you can see, there was a couple of different random activities that took place. If you want me to elaborate on one, please tell me.
