Two Thanksgiving dinners and a NEW CAR!!

Yes, believe it or not, I finally got a new car. Kyle and I bought a 2006 Subaru Legacy (the sedan version). We were really excited about this car mostly because of the low mileage. It was previously owned by the Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City and he didn't drive it anywhere. We got a steal of a deal!! I ended up taking them to the ER and finding out that they BOTH had swine flu. I had been exposed!!! Dang it. I thought I would be cool this winter and not worry about getting sick. But today as I sit here and type, I wonder as I feel like crap...did I contract the swine flu or do I just feel like crap today because I can.

Good thing about swine flu...it's not as bad as the news portrays. I absolutely loved working with him. Then, we went on our honeymoon to Cabo (not a cruise however). Yes, everyone asked if I was scared of getting the swine flu and well honestly, yes...I was. But we went anyway. I think it took us longer to get into the Mexico than it did to get into the United States. Anywho, we stayed at this AWESOME resort on the beach and wow, Mexico is a different place. People constantly asking me if I want a bracelet, "Free for you. He pays." Oh man. But I would go back in a heart beat. I loved it there. What else? I can't remember.

June: Nothing new.

July: July 4th, Kyle's cabin with his family, a rodeo

August: New job! I start August 10th. Yippee! I can't wait.

New Title!!

As you may have noticed, I haven't updated in a long, long time. Life has definitely changed since I last wrote. I can't believe that I will be graduating this semester of school, and another big change is coming but that news will have to wait...

But this Christmas break, it has just been Amy and I here in our apartment complex and as much as I love her, we have been so bored. Last night I lay on the couch, as she sit in the chair across the room, literally dying of boredom. It was only 9 p.m. and we were determined to stay up until 12 a.m. to go get Baja Blast from Taco Bell (then Sunday would be over). But three hours seemed like an eternity long, so we had to think of something. Then the idea struck me...sledding. But neither Amy or I had a sled, so what did we do, improvised; a car, orange sheet and a cookie sheet. We tied a knot in the end of the sheet and shut it in the truck to create the 'rope' and then we began the craziness. First it started with a cookie sheet, which would've worked better had the parking lot been more ice than slush.

In this next picture, I had ice melting down my butt crack...it was frigid.

And then, a laundry basket was instituted and wow, it worked amazing. Around and around we went in circles, eventually going about 10 mph in a circle. I have never had so much fun in a laundry basket. Little did I remember (but once was told), that plastic gets brittle in the cold and sadly, our fun came to an end when the bottom of the basket broke out. Our boredom had been cured for awhile, but we have determined that, that activity is going to stay. Next time a snow storm comes, we will be ready with dollar store laundry baskets and sheets...we plan on making a train.
My wet butt, broken laundry basket and plastic bag.

MU-MU!

Do you ever fell like, the only person that reads your blog is you. We wore them because it was Belinda's birthday and it was according to me, the only way into this party. Of course we gave her the only one that was colorful so she could stand out...it WAS her birthday dinner. Anyway, after a whole night of mu-mu's, we got hilarious looks, comments and even a pull-over compliment from some dude. This is probably the most rebellious I will do in my life. I didn't ask for permission, but I will paint it back after all is said and done. So I did...pink. I love it and although I am still waiting for a sticker called Anise to come, so I am going to post these pictures. I am really excited for it to be finished, but when I ordered the sticker, it had a 10-14 days production time and then shipping...that was Sept. 1. Only probably two more weeks before it comes. Here it is...side note: the sticker will probably go on the white wall on canvas boards...we will see and I will post more pictures when I finish.

I made that chandelier that is hanging in the top corner of the picture. Ugh... Okay, so after the first day of 7:30 classes and walking up the hill once, I woosed out and drove my car to the stadium and rode the shuttle to the top again. At the end of the semester, I am going to be able to run that hill...I believe.

A week ago though, I went to Lagoon for the first time in a decade, yes, I say that because it sounds cool and a lot longer than it really is. Anyway, I went with my best friends from work and we had a blast. First I had to take some motion sickness medicine to avoid an unruly puke. But I rode the Colossus loop-to-loop roller coaster for the first time and loved it. We had such a fun time. Here are the pictures, or at least some of them for proof.

this is us trying not to get wet on Rattlesnake Rapids...two ponchoes+four people=wet butt.

Me, Kate and Sarah riding the ski-life ride...whoopee!

Birthday Boy...

Okay, so today was my little brother's birthday, but I can't really say, little brother considering he is at least a half a foot taller than I...so younger. Anyway, the original plan for his birthday party was to commence at Golden Corral (yipes), which I think is my dad's favorite restaurant? Anyway, my younger brother calls him and says, ''Dad, we are not eating at Golden Corral for my 21st birthday." haha. So we ate at the Olive Garden instead...haaa. Our dinner conversation consisted of a great story that my dad told...I think in his old age, he is getting blonder and not grayer...and considering his age, he looks pretty darn good (please bless that those great genetics were passed down).

But my dad is into the remote control airplanes and has been since I can remember, which is a long time because I have a great memory. Now that he is retired, he comes over the mountain to fly with the 'cronies' aka. other flying buddies. Understand also now that my dad's hearing is also...well, not as sharp as it used to be, so he sets his phone on vibrate when the airplanes are running because he can't hear it. The story goes like this... The other day, he came over to fly his airplane with his buddy Dave. While doing this, he had put his phone in his pocket and forgot about it. During the flight of the airplanes, Dave yells to my dad, "Hey, is there a bee flying around you?" My dad replies with a no, he can't see or hear anything and continues to fly. Again, Dave brings up that he swears there is a bee flying around him and this time my dad hears it, not only hears it but believes with all his might that it is in his pocket. At this point, my dad has his pocket pried open with his fingers trying to get the dang bugger out, without being stung on the leg. He tells Dave finally to get his leather gloves because this bugger isn't coming out and he is afraid of the worst. Dave runs to the truck to get the gloves and returns only to find a cell phone and set of keys in my dad's hand. Yes, don't worry, the 'bee' was a cell phone and key set.

This story is just some of the great things that my dad does. He is very entertaining...we also love him a lot. Check it out. I have to update it and put past weddings and things on, but at least it's now going right?

Next item of business...family reunions. And every year we get KFC (the only time I will ever eat it) and feast on the wonderfulness of the chicken. Also, I never eat gravy on anything except potatoes from KFC. It's interesting that we probably never converse with the 'Anderson' side of the family (except the parents) and so we sit divided with chicken every year. Hoping that someday, someone will break the ice and be brave enough to talk. But the old people keep on getting old and forgetting who we are and the young just keeping disappearing. So, we will hopefully be starting a new blog soon on that adventure. That was off the subject, but since that is usually all I can think of, I will now post some pictorials. the end.

P.S. I thought that having a new engine in the car would fix the car problems, but regardless of how much money is spent on the car, I still have problems. Yesterday, after spending an entire day with one of my best friends (her wedding), I had a flat tire in the end. I had noticed, after picking up the wedding flowers, that my car was pulling to the right...bad and that the road was slanted so that it shouldn't be going to the right, but in fact to the left. I brushed it off thinking that maybe after they had put my tires on when fixing the engine, they may have knocked out of alignment. Well, when it came time to leave the reception, I indeed had a flatter than flat tire. Don't worry, two guys from high school and my dad were all there to help. (Although, I do know how to change a flat tire.) But it turns out that I have to purchase a new set of tires. Still enough is enough. I am done dealing with my stupid foreign piece of crap car.

I am now taking donations to help keep it alive. or me...

I will be posting some pictorials of the change and the great people that helped me as soon as I upload them off my camera.

Stanley Adventure Begins...

Whoo. Well, I made it through the first week of work at Stanley without too much pain. I only blew up my car engine, touched crusty poop, and ate a whole barrel (with the help of my two roommates) of cheesy poofs. In that barrel, there is around 1,120 poofs. Yes, it was wonderful, but probably very unhealthy. I probably shortened my life by 29.8 years. haha. Liven' it up, I suppose.

As for the car, don't ever get your oil changed at Jiffy Lube. Bad, bad idea. The guy was more interested in flirting with me rather than actually making sure that my car was okay to use.

And the crusty poop was a training exercise in which I was demonstrating how to properly clean a toilet for the new employees. My hand slipped off the towel, and I almost had a heart attack. One, I am leaving for the summer and two, pre-tornado season.

My dad said, "Oh don't worry Sara, it's pre-tornado season, we won't have to worry about that." It turns out, this past week was one of the worst weeks this year in tornadoes. We arrived in Winona, Minnesota, a day late (because of the stupid snow storm that closed the roads and a flat tire) and slightly tired. For the next couple of days, we would be refreshing our memory banks about my mom's history and the five or so years my dad lived there. The first day was great. The second day, there was a tornado warning directly for Winona and I was stuck in my hotel room. As a young child, I was forever scarred from a close tornado in this very city. So much for promising good weather...hah.

After that scare, we went to dinner. It was still raining buckets but, that didn't stop us. As we were driving home, there was white moving spots on the road. I was informed that they were frogs, the roads were covered and there was no way around hitting them. Dad told us not to think about it, but how could you not.

Our next adventure was to visit Aunt Judy. The part of the trip I looked forward to the most. I haven't seen her since she was in Utah for my mom's funeral. She is a 'hoot!' All we did was laugh the entire time.

These moments were the highlights of the trip. But here are some small details on other things.

-Mount Rushmore - Ugly Mountain Goat
-Belle Fourche - 'bell fu'-sh'
-Aladdin...Wyoming - not where Aladdin the character is from...big disappointment.
-Sock Puppets - 22 hours one way.
-The Corn Palace
-Home Again!

I love family vacations, but this one was really interesting.

Latest Flower Beautifulness...

Presenting....

Okay, so here are a few of my most recent creations. I really love the orange bouquet. My friend asked me to design her wedding flowers, so here is the first of those wedding flowers; the Bridals Bouquet. Her colors are Orange, a Sage Green and Brown. Beautiful colors once they are together!

I used, Orange Gerber Daisies, Orange Roses, Fern Curl, Variegated Pit. and Variegated Lily Grass.
The handle was wrapped in Chocolate Satin Ribbon but I added a chocolate brown accent and forgot to take a picture...dang. Oh well, hopefully she will be willing to give me a better picture.

This weekend, I also designed a centerpiece for a guest who's daughter is leaving for a mission to Italy. Hence the color scheme; red, green and white (I think those are the national colors?) Anyways, I loved this centerpiece, it turned out quite nicely. Okay. So, I figured this semester had been too easy, and when I say too easy, I mean, homework spread evenly throughout. But now that the end of the semester is now two weeks away, my teacher have piled on the projects, papers and tests. AH! I feel like all I can do now is think about what to do on the next project and not to procrastinate (which I have a hard time with sometimes, okay pretty much all the time). But I am proud to say that I (with the help of a friend) created a logo, business card and letterhead. I feel so emancipated. haha. Anyway, I will post some pictures of my projects from my interior design class on here soon. Okay. It was also my dad's birthday this weekend, so we celebrated at Cafe Sabor. So, you are probably wondering, what the heck is a birthweek. But isn't it obvious? The the pre-celebration to the celebration of your birth. This is my philosophy, you wait 364 days for that one special day when everyone celebrates A day for you. Why not celebrate a whole week previous to the day? Twenty-four hours isn't enough time and besides, by time everyone remembers it was your birthday, it's over. This way you can remind everyone that your birthday is up-and-coming and you get the special privileges only given on your birthday all week. That is all.

On another note...

I recently went to a floral show is Twin Falls and wow, Idaho is awesome. It started very, very early for me (4:30 AM). Driving there was a treat and yes, we (Sarah and I) did sing the whole way and played a random game (which I will describe when explaining the drive home). *Special Note: We both had two energy drinks each, which only contributed to the greatness of the trip. Anyways, we arrived in Twin Falls around 8:30, just in time for registration check-in. Our first class was interesting was a good basics class, teaching us how to make a bridal bouquet using an Oasis holder. Next, we attended a class in which we learned about negative space and topiaries. This was my favorite class. The designer used tall, branchy, organic arrangements to display negative space and taught us how to make a stable topiary using branches and Oasis. I would have to say that it was the most stable topiary I have ever made. He was excellent! Our next class was a bomb. I mean bomb in a bad way. The instructor, was calling everything junk and crap. Okay, I don't care if you think the things used in arrangements are junk, but don't tell everyone. It devalues the arrangement and places a negative connotation on it. Also, we "learned" how to glue a corsage together, which fell apart on the way home. Useless. Overall, the conference was okay. Not as good as last years that is for sure, but it beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick I suppose. On the way home, we both participated in a game in which, the size of text in a sign, determined the volume at which it was read, out loud. Example, speed limit 60. *Imagine the size of the letters now in volume.

yes, it was very fun.

The end.

Cell Phone Discoveries

Wahoo!! It seems like when one receives a new phone, it remains a mystery as to how exactly it works until the day that you have to get a new one. But tonight, I discovered a great discovery!! Sort of recently, I had someone bluetooth some pictorials with sound to my phone and I never was able to find them. Sad and disappointed, I forgot about it until tonight, waiting for my friend to arrive, I found them!! It was probably the best thing that happened to me tonight (besides the great movie I went and watched in the theater). Good ol' cell phones will forever get the best of us, but when one triumphs in finding out a new mystery, they must gloat a bit. Even if no one else cares, I am really excited about this!

So Maybe...

So Maybe, I will tell a bit more about myself...

I am a florist. Is that enough? Eh...probably not. So, here it goes. I started working in a floral shop about four years ago and fell in love. No experience, I learned the basic tricks of the trade from my amazingly talented sister, also self-taught. When she quit to get married and move, I keep going.

Here I am four years later, working on graduating in Floral Design, Interior Design and Business. I hope to open my own Wedding Flower business soon someday...emphasize soon. Here are a couple of weddings that I have done, the pictures aren't professional, but I think you will get the jest. Also, I did the bouquet in the pictures on Moments by Kellee (March 10, 2008 post). That bouquet was probably my favorite of all the bouquets I have ever, thus far, done.

So, now I suppose I will keep you posted on the progress of my floral abilities. We drove to Newport Beach and it was a beautiful day. Probably the best day since we arrived, of course right? But here are some pictorials of the beach.

So it turns out that this was suppose to be like the Little Mermaid...haha I look like a freak.

The first moments at the ocean, the water really isn't that warm and shortly after this pictorial we find that out.

I really wanted a picture with a palm and was hoping for a larger one but we were at the gas station filling the rental about to get on an airplane, so I needed on right away. Taken on the corner with a red light, a tad embarrassing.
Okay, so probably the best story of the day happened on the airplane. I changed my location on the airplane to sit next to Aly so she wouldn’t feel left out or alone (yes, we love her too). She sat at the window and I sat in the middle, leaving the next seat over open. I told her before anyone even sat there that I hoped that a boy wouldn’t sit there because I didn’t want to talk to them or wouldn’t know what to say, most likely making a complete fool of myself. Anyway, probably five minutes before take off, the very last passenger to load walked up the isle to the seat right beside me. His pants were hanging down to his knees and he smelt strangely of alcoholic beverage, so basically, I was a little embarrassed for him. Being that is the way that I am, I looked out the window and made some stupid comment to Aly about a sign outside the airplane. Finally he went back to the bathroom and I turned to Aly with a glace of horror, I had to sit next to this drunk the whole way home…but it gets better. He sat down. Ipod out, I was ready just to zone out and listen to the music, maybe fall asleep. But somehow this individual next to me decided to talk to me…and didn’t stop until seriously we landed in SLC and the entire airplane in front of us was unloaded. But the whole flight, I got to listen to the sob story of his life, honestly, I don’t care. He thought God was punishing him for choices he made in his life. Near the end, I was trying to change the subject, he started to get a little more aggressive (possibly the 3 more Jack Daniels he had) about his topic. The guy that was sitting in the row in front kept looking back at me, this kid next to me was getting more and more animated. Side note: Sarah and Holly were like seven rows in front of us, so they have no idea what is going on, but Holly looks back and makes a heart symbol with her fingers and mouths, “True love?” and Aly mouths back a fervent, “NO!” ha.ha. Anyway, I basically ran up the terminal just to get away from him. Telling Sarah and Holly what happened as we go to the area where our bags were coming to. Fancy that I should see the kid that sat the row in front of us, he asked me what the heck that guy was talking about and gave him the shortened version and he explained that I had a look of concerned, terror on my face. It was true. Why is it that people feel the need to tell me their life story and everything they have done wrong? I should get paid for that. Ha.ha. So the worst plane passenger sat next to me and I will never forget it.

This trip was by far the best trip I have had in my life. There are so many more stories, but that takes up too much space.

There and Back (Day 2)

Moving on....DISNEYLAND! I am just going to add pictures...it's more exciting and tell you about them.

Next Day-Saturday....magic day

We woke and walked to the park, but first we had to obtain some breakfast. Well, sitting outside was the only option, so we did it. Well, Holly decided to sit in some bird poop and spread it around, so instead of going back to the hotel for a change of pants, Sarah lovingly spoke up to wipe the poop off her bum. All I have to say is thank you bird for a moment of entertainment had, I am sure, by more than just our party. Her pants did make it though.

Upon entering the park, it was like magic and 15 years of my life was subtracted from my life and I was a kid again. I was transformed.

First, there was an ingenious idea to obtain as many “fast passes” as possible to avoid waiting in the long lines. But unfortunately you can only have one per hour and you have to ride that ride at specific times. It turns out being a better deal, for example we would have had to wait in line for seventy minutes but we waited in line for maybe five.

So, we rode the Matterhorn first, and I thought it was a ride having something to do with Alice in Wonderland, but I was wrong. In fact it is a bobsled roller coaster. A lot of fun! Then we moved on to the roller coaster also known as Thunder Mountain, probably one of the more fun rides of the day.

But my all time favorite ride at Disneyland is Space Mountain. A roller coaster in which the whole time you are in the dark and flying around corners. It brought tears to my eyes and sheer terror to my face. The second time we rode it, somehow we got behind some very pungent Europeans and had to suffer through the smell on the first slow hill. But, it was still a lot of fun because the dad was the only European in our roller coaster cart and we screamed a lot…haha.

I would have to say that I am a roller coaster wimp, in that I am not afraid to sound and look like a freak because I am too worried about not falling out of the cart. I will pretty much go on any roller coaster though (except the white roller coaster at Lagoon, bad, bad memory). Strangely enough, the only thing I could think before each 'coaster started was, "I wonder how people have thrown up in this seat, or I wonder how many people have touched this bar."

According to the others in my party, taking me to Disneyland was like taking a small child, but seriously, it just is the greatest place on earth. The magic is real. So this next picture isn't the prettiest, but after a day at Disneyland, we felt life death. It was extremely fun and filled with silly walks down the street, weird calls to each other on the dark rides (like a strange rooster), and being dead tired and eating at a Mexican restaurant.

A list of firsts for my life for the day…churro, Disneyland experience, spending $15 on A piece of pizza and A breadstick, and seeing Mickey Mouse.

But I can't end with a picture like that, so here is a picture to look forward to my next post. The last and final day of the trip. Dare I say maybe the interesting....

TO BE CONTINUED...

There and Back (Day 1)

There are so many great stories, I cannot put them all into one post. Therefore, I have decided to spread them out over the next couple of days/week to give it more suspense. I hope you enjoy.

Yes. It is true that recently, I visited the western coast of our continent for the first time. It was the first time for such an adventure without parental units. Yep, you heard it here first, I am 21, nearly 22, and have never been on a trip without some sort of family figure with me. I guess you could say that I was raised in a cage, but I would say, I was raised with very protective and loving parents. Alright, time for the huge long story. I suppose it would be beneficial for those of you who are just tuning in to hear the story from the very beginning.

Rewind...

I had never been to California, but always since I was a small child wanted to go. My parents disliked crowds and therefore, we were never able to go to the greatly crowded, so called "normal" vacation spots. Often Yellowstone entertained, along with Minnesota, but don't get me wrong, they were a lot of fun!

Fast forward...

December the idea was presented to me to go to California for my birthday. Heck, California, lets do Disneyland. January, plane tickets bought, WICKED tickets purchased. The trip was planned. Four girls would be crashing a weekend together.

Fast forward...day of departure...

Starting at 3:30 a.m... plane to vacation land leaves at 6:05 a.m. Must be to the airport at 4:30 a.m. to check baggage and make it through security. I always get anxiety going through those stupid metal detectors. I am a good person, but they (the guards) don't know that. I am pretty sure they can check out your record dating back to Kindergarten and if that's the case then they would know that I, Sara, cutout a star for talking to my neighbor. That would be the reason for the stares into my deepest, darkest parts of my heart...dare I say the cockles. Okay. Shoes off, no socks, disgusting, I don't know how many people have touched that exact floor with their bare feet except, I don't have fungus.

On the airplane, I begin getting excited, it is finally starting to feel real. I am fulfilling a childhood dream of going to the greatest place on Earth. Subtract the nausea feeling, and perfect. Stay calm...we aren't there yet. Landing, palm trees, wild flowers, ocean and cloudy sky. Not exactly what I had expected, but a cloudy sky will be okay.

Once in California, given it is now only the wee hours of the morning, we find a place of nourishment in Huntington Beach, Sugar Shack. It was magical. For the next 12 hours of my life, I spent them shopping in outrageously priced stores. For example, a tank top, 89 dollars. But Aly and I thought it would be great fun to get our make-up done for the WICKED Broadway show. Sarah and Holly got their's done and it was "free" or so we thought. Finished with our new looks (which you will see shortly), the brick was dropped on our toes, a minimum five product purchase was required. Now understand that the cheapest make-up container was 18 dollars. Crap, now I have to spend money on make-up...and yes I did, $150.00 smack-a-roo's. That was hilarious. We ended up driving to the next mall and returning it all...ha-ha. on you stupid make-up place. Fried Mac-n-cheese balls from Cheesecake Factory=heaven.

Day gone, WICKED awaited us in LA. We headed to the hotel, thinking we would be able to shower and get ready there, only to be informed that we needed to leave right away. Quickly, we checked in to the hotel, did a quick strip and change. (I have never in my life...life...life...changed in front of anyone besides myself and the mirror, but there was no where else and well, we were going to be late.) And in all honesty, it happened twice more in various parking lots. Make-up and hair done in the car on the way there, we only got lost once...thank you nice grocery shopping center in downtown LA for the directions.

Holly, Sarah, Me, and Aly just before entering the theater to watch WICKED!

Thank You nice person behind us in line.

WICKED!! The most amazing show on this green earth. We often caught ourselves mouths open, gawking. We after all fifth row seats after a mistake on the ticket people part. Sudden urges of dancalitis were thrust upon us, but resisting, we enjoyed silently. We enjoyed this portion of the trip immensely. So much in fact that we listened to the entire soundtrack on the way to SLC and back; our own short Broadway show, staring us.

This was the greatest show on earth!

TO BE CONTINUED...

Soon to Come!

Okay, so be excited for the soon to come adventure story of California. But here I am sitting, should probably be doing my homework or studying for the test that is quickly approaching.
Oh well, so here is goes; here is a little about me. I was born March 21 in Logan, Utah. But have lived in Cache Valley, Utah for all my childhood and teenage life. I then moved to Logan to live closer to school. I have ten toes and ten fingers and think that I am molting. I love the color pink and am 5'7'' on good days and all the other days, I am 5'6''. I have ONE natural blonde streak in my hair, the rest is brown. I have a rather good sized family, whom I love. We, being my siblings, look nothing alike. Therefore, we have come to the conclusion that we cheated in heaven and pushed others out of the way to come down first. We are a strange group, but the coolest!
Well, I should start studying for my test. I will try to update my blog every so often. I don't even know who will read this but I guess I will write to myself.
